Child Care Worker
Youth Services of Bryan County is currently looking for dependable and punctual professionals to join our team at the Children’s Emergency Resource Center. Candidate must enjoy working as a team to make a difference in a child’s life.
Under the supervision of the CERC Coordinator, a Child Care Worker performs, in an emergency resource center setting, guidance and care for children seventeen (17) years of age and younger who have been harmed or threatened through abuse, neglect, or exploitation; are runaways; or are experiencing turbulence in the home. Typical examples of work performed by a Child Care Worker are:
Supervising residents of the CERC while providing a positive attitude, good communication, and maintaining order and discipline.
Working with residents, on an individual or group basis, to improve personal hygiene, eating habits, and conduct.
Consulting daily with caseworkers and preparing daily written evaluations concerning the status of each resident’s behavior, emotional adjustment, cooperativeness, etc.
Assuring residents of their safety and security through supervisory contacts, police contacts, abuse reports, and reports of incidents or accidents, and insuring that their physical needs are met.
Maintaining facility cleanliness and performing facility inspections to insure maintenance of proper sleeping conditions and adequate security.
Providing tutorial assistance to residents when needed.
Follow and enforce emergency resource center guidelines and the policy and procedures manual as set forth by the agency’s Board of Directors, Executive Director and state licensing requirements.
Interact with referring agencies, parents, and law enforcement personnel in a professional manner.
Attend mandatory trainings required by the contract and licensing and maintain required training hours.
Qualifications and Required Knowledge:
Incumbent must possess a minimum of a high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of child guidance and training, behavior problems associated with deprived or delinquent children, methods and practices of household management, and simple health and safety precautions.
